Mayor Ron Hovanes was on hand recently for the ribbon cutting ceremony at Montakarn Estate Winery. His speech was a warm embrace to the entrepreneurs who enter the valley and set up businesses. “Welcome to the heart of the South Okanagan Valley,” he stated. “We have changed a lot but we still are all about farming and agriculture. We still are all about creating crops and producing quality products and I know yours won’t be any different – congratulations.” We would like to thank the mayor for opening our event and we are happy he could attend. We would also like to thank Dennis Walker for being our MC and putting us on his new radio station, as well as Rick Wood who got the crowd toe-tapping and swinging with his non-stop playing. But most of all we want to thank the people of Oliver, friends and family, and the entire valley who attended our opening. Those were the people who brought the excitement and ambiance to our grand opening. My family can’t thank them all enough for their support.
Starting from Hester Creek winery in Oliver, the 20km race through the vineyards visited members of the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association. Montakarn was excited to be one of this year’s 13 food and wine stops along the race for the Uncorked Marathon runners.
